Hornchurch boss Daryl McMahon is looking forward to another tough test against Chelmsford City in National League South this weekend.
Urchins welcome their Essex rivals to Bridge Avenue on Saturday, having seen off Hashtag United in the FA Cup last weekend.
Charlee Adams fired them in front from 25 yards midway through the first half, in front of a crowd of 681, and Angelo Balanta doubled the advantage from inside the box on the stroke of half-time.
Quba Gordon headed home a reply for Tags - who included former Urchins midfielder Joe Christou - with 20 minutes remaining, but the hosts progressed to a third qualifying round tie at Leiston, to the delight of McMahon.
"First half I thought we were terrific, played some really good football, scored two good goals. Probably should've scored more," he told the club website.
"Second half was probably a bit similar as well in the fact we had some really great opportunities, six yards out and we hit them straight at the goalkeeper, which is unlike us.
"So from that perspective, disappointed we didn't get more goals. But when you're in a cup competition you just want to get through to the next round and we've done that."
Mason Terry made two good saves in the first half to deny Max Cornhill and Sak Hassan and earned praise from the boss.
"He's a very good goalie. He made two saves in the first half that were very good and in the second half he hasn't had to do anything to be fair," added McMahon.
"But he's there when you need him, we know that. He's a top goalkeeper and we're happy to have him here and help him develop his career."
Although Urchins must travel to Suffolk in the next round on September 28, McMahon is pleased to be back at home against Chelmsford this weekend, especially without any midweek fixtures.
"Our home form is good, we're hard to play against here, it's difficult for teams to come here and play against us," he said.
"We're looking forward to a training week, it's nice to have two training days. Obviously we've not had lots of training because we've had lots of games.
"Thursday nights we've been cooling down and not really working too hard, so we're looking forward to having two training days this week.
"We know it's going to be another tough test against Chelmsford on Saturday."
