Romford Buccaneers head coach Jason Buckman was delighted to see his young side secure another overtime win in National League Division One South at the weekend.
Having returned from a four-week festive break to beat Solent Devils on penalty shots in their first game of 2024, Buccaneers came back from Invicta with two more points following a 7-6 success.
And Buckman praised his understrength side for keeping their nerve to upset their hosts.
"It was a character win in Invicta to follow on from the OT Solent win," he said.
"Going into the game missing a few main guys through work commitments and also Joe Tomalin playing for Raiders, we went with a game plan and the boys stuck by it."
Bradley Taylor and Brynley Capps struck less than two minutes apart to put Buccs on top, only for Dynamos to hit back and level before the first break.
Capps put the visitors back in front just 28 seconds into the middle session, only for Invicta to reply with two goals in two minutes for a 4-3 lead.
Ewan Hill squared matters again, with Capps completing his hat-trick just before the game's midway point and making it 6-4 just 11 seconds into the final period.
Dynamos answered almost immediately, though, and tied the score with just over three minutes left on the clock.
However, a high-sticking penalty against James Laming just before the buzzer gave Buccaneers a powerplay chance in overtime, with Capps making it count just 35 seconds into the extra period.
"Even when losing the lead we kept on battling and knew we would have a chance to get back into the game," added Buckman.
"Special mention to Brynley Capps, he came away with the game winning goal and five goals on the night, and also marking his 50th point in 18 games for the season.
"He comes to play every game and was the standout player on the ice."
Buccaneers now find themselves with a blank weekend, but return to action on Saturday week (February 3), when Slough Jets visit Romford's Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre.
