Manager Gary McCann dedicated the victory over Potters Bar Town to the memory of a Billericay Town legend.
Ron Symes, who began in 1959 as a player and held numerous roles at the club over the years, died during the night prior to the New Year's Day game at home to the Scholars.
And after an equaliser from Alfie Cerulli and an own goal from Rickie Hayles gave the Blues a 2-1 Isthmian League Premier Division success, the boss hailed Syme's years of service.
McCann said: "He was a man who has been pivotal to this club over his time, he's had a lot of roles and a lot of jobs and he was really well respected.
"And I felt that if we could put a performance together and a result together, that would be a fitting tribute.
"I'm really pleased we've been able to get a win and we dedicate that to Ron."
Looking at the game itself, the boss was very complimentary to the visitors and said Billericay needed to be at their best to beat them.
The boss said: "The opposition brought the fight to us and we were more defending it and batting it away, rather than bringing the fight.
"When opposition come into our backyard, they are going to bring it and we have to make sure we are on the front foot and bringing it at every opportunity.
"I thought their goal in the first five minutes was against the run of play because we have shown a little bit more aggression and showed a little bit more fight.
"It derailed us for a period but then we got a second wind and some momentum and I thought we were excellent in the final 35 minutes.
"I felt we could have scored five and six.
"Admittedly, they had a really good opportunity at 1-0 and that would have been a long way back.
"I was really impressed with Potters Bar, you could see why they have only had one defeat in 12 games,
"Max [Mitchell] and Liam [Hope] have done a great job and they put together a team with an identity.
"They are potent at the front end of the pitch with Brandon Adams, Temi [Babaloala] and Ore [Bello] as well.
"There's a real look to them and it was a tough game. We had to be at our best in the final 30 minutes to take them to him.
"But I did feel that once we got the equaliser and the momentum, there would be only one winner."
The club have a busy January which includes a home game against leaders Hornchurch on January 16.
McCann though is not looking that far ahead.
He said: "Hornchurch is out there on the horizon and Kingstonian and Cray Wanderers are more important at the minute.
"We'll make sure we recover well a there are some tired limbs.
"We'll be ready for Kingstonian on Saturday firstly and we'll make sure we put a performance together to back up the two wins."
