Upminster men's seconds were crowned East Division Three South East champions on goal difference after a tense finish to the season.
Not knowing the club's third team had claimed an unlikely 1-0 win at title hopefuls Basildon, they began a little shaky in their derby with Havering, who moved the ball around well but lacked a cutting edge.
But Upminster started to press higher up the pitch and Steve Wright hit a straight strike past the Havering keeper to open the scoring.
Ollie Cipa then netted with two drag flicks to make it 3-0 at half-time and Upminster applied more pressure after the restart, with Phil Hudson tapping in Cipa's square pass after a good move through midfield.
Cipa completed his hat-trick with an excellent shot into the bottom right corner, before Hudson pounced on a rebound at a penalty corner to net number six.
Havering rallied and claimed a late consolation goal on a breakaway but Upminster had done enough, just, to win the title on goal difference by just one goal.
The first team swept aside Chelmsford seconds 4-0 to secure a top-three finish in their league.
Tobi Dunlea opened the scoring in the first half with a trademark reverse finish into the bottom left corner, before Liam Robertson doubled their lead just before half-time as he found space on the baseline from a Dunlea pass to squeeze a great finish past the keeper at the near post.
A green card to Callum Berry threatened to allow a brief Chelmsford comeback, however the home side weathered the storm, led by defender of the match Harry Jenkins.
Berry made amends with Upminster’s third goal, a simple tap in past the keeper, and the fourth came from talisman Dunlea after a slick penalty corner routine - much to the crowd’s delight.
After a positive finish to a positive season overall, Upminster will hope next season to push for promotion many feel they were unfortunate to miss out on this time.
Upminster's women also earned bragging rights over Havering with a 7-2 victory.
They began their final league game in determined fashion, pressing Havering back and threatening their D, with Riva Siggins hitting a post after a forceful run.
Lauren Slater-Harvey and Upminster's defence held firm as Havering looked to counter and with pressure mounting the deadlock was broken after several short corners as Rebecca Pearson struck.
With Megan Miller constantly probing on the right, another short corner was gained but Slater-Harvey’s effort was saved.
However, Lucy Falzon found herself with time and space to drive forward and her shot into the D was deflected in by Amy Byrne.
Havering forced three short corners in quick succession, with Charlotte Triggs producing a diving save to keep them out.
But quick passing movements enabled Upminster to find space in the middle of the pitch and threaten the D, with two further short corners coming to nothing before Byrne injected and Slater-Harvey's shot was dispatched inside the near post.
Byrne found herself in space a minute later and worked her way into the D to find Issy Uzal, who made no mistake.
And with Alexa Marston, Falzon and Byrne controlling midfield, play was maintained in the Havering half, with Slater-Harvey firing home another short corner on 28 minutes.
Havering could not capitalise on several short corners before half-time and forced Triggs into action after the restart.
As Upminster settled, Miller and Drew Bailey out wide looked to make inroads into the D while Jemma Creswell was forced away after making a chance for herself.
With the pace of the game slowing Havering started to see more of the ball with Upminster's defence and D coming under persistent pressure.
But with Uzal and Aimee Banks hassling in midfield and Marston's silky stickwork getting her past opponents Upminster continued to press Havering back.
A long run from defence took Havering into the home D with two efforts saved by Triggs before the resulting rebound was put away.
But Uzal, Banks and Pearson kept pressing forward looking to create further openings, as a Bella Boyle block tackle stopped a Havering advance.
With Upminster a player down Havering were able to press forward, with two short corners saved by Triggs, but with numbers even again, the hosts moved the ball out wide and Byrne's skillful play enabled her to send a pass across the D to an unmarked Marston to make it 6-1.
Uzal hassled a Havering defender into conceding a short corner from the restart and deflected Miller's shot into the net for her second of the game on 65 minutes.
As time ran down Havering's last play into the Upminster D resulted in a short corner, with the shot sneaking under a defender's foot and inside the post for a late consolation.
Upminster fifths completed an invincible season in Division Five South East with an excellent 2-0 win over Brentwood fourths.
And that saw them end their 22-game campaign unbeaten in third place, with 14 wins and eight draws.
