Havering's women produced an excellent display to beat Letchworth 4-2 at Campion School and claim their second win of the East League Premier Division season.
They started strongly, with Katie Griggs having a couple of early opportunities which forced good saves from the visiting goalkeeper.
And Havering took the lead when Steph Prowse and Bethan Isherwood combined, as Isherwood’s movement created space for Prowse to hit the ball through to Griggs to neatly beat a defender and then the keeper.
Letchworth were finding it difficult to find gaps in the Havering defence of Prowse, Bukki Olodo, Alex Semon and Sue Bartlett but did eventually manage a way through to net an equaliser.
Havering regrouped, though, and the midfield of Charlotte Chamberlin, Isherwood, Emily Martin, Emily Gilkes-Tarsey, Catherine Johnson and Tilly Bunn took control.
Martin kept causing problems down the wings while the Letchworth defence struggle to deal with the pace of Sue Harwood.
A strong run on the right by Martin, followed by a good cross, created difficulties for the visiting defence and Harwood and Isherwood hassled the keeper to force a penalty corner.
Johnson slipped the ball to Semon to tuck away and put Havering back in front and they continued to dominate the game and added a third goal just before half-time.
Again good pressure in the attacking D forced a penalty corner which Martin put away with a first-time strike.
Havering began the second half with similar intensity and Martin, Griggs and Harwood all saw chances saved, before Letchworth converted a penalty corner to get back into the game.
The hosts had other ideas, however, and when Martin was fouled in the D, a penalty stroke was awarded, but Isherwood saw her lifted flick saved.
Harwood intercepted the resulting hit out and dribbled back into the D, going around a defender and beating the keeper to give Havering a two-goal cushion.
Letchworth couldn’t get back into the game after that as Havering’s defence and keeper Sophie McCoy were quick to clear up any breakthroughs.
Havering's men maintained their push for promotion from East Two South East with a 4-0 win over Maldon.
They began well as Adam Willett finished off a silky move to score after just three minutes following some good build-up play.
And it was 2-0 when soon after when Liam Purton's deflected shot found the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
Maldon hit Havering on the counter but were unable to find a way through thanks to good defending from Jack Barlow and Kyle Orton.
Purton added his second goal just before half-time after Liam Appleyard's shot was saved, picking up the rebound to give Havering a 3-0 lead.
And the hosts added a fourth 15 minutes after the restart as Willett grabbed his second with a deflection at the back post.
Maldon offered a threat throughout the game but lacked the finishing touch, with Barlow stopping a late effort to keep Havering’s first clean sheet since November, ahead of a trip to Waltham Forest this weekend.
*Upminster's men battled to a 1-1 draw at East Division One South leaders Bishop's Stortford, ahead of a home date with Potters Bar this weekend.
But the women slumped to a 6-0 loss at Cambridge City seconds in the East Premier and host Peterborough on Saturday.
