Jason Buckman admitted the National League Division One South double-header between his NIHL1 Raiders and Oxford City Stars had produced a 'strange weekend of results'.
Raiders were put to the sword at the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre, slumping to a 12-4 home loss, on Saturday.
But they bounced back in style the following night to skate off with a 7-4 win in the university city to ensure honours finished even overall.
And Buckman said: "Strange weekend of results! I didn’t see Saturday result or performance coming.
"We went into the game with a lot of confidence and it couldn’t go any more wrong. I really do think it was a freak result and a Raiders performance not even Oxford were expecting.
"After reviewing the game and goals I feel the players didn’t intentionally put that performance in. Yes there were mistakes here and there, but along with the refereeing it was just never gonna to go our way."
Leo Markey netted twice in the loss, with Luca Pascale and Sam Robinson also on target, as goalie Sonny Phillips made way in the 24th minute after conceding seven times.
Phillips made 36 saves the next day, though, as Tjay Anderson and Marco Pascale hit hat-tricks, with Jordan Liddell finding the net and Buckman added: "We went to Oxford with the sole intention of putting Saturday's result behind us and getting back on track to end the season strong.
"The game was a close affair with us grabbing the lead a few times, but especially after Saturday's result the guys understood momentums and game management and really fought to get back ahead in the game.
"We controlled large parts of Sunday's game and when we needed to slow the game down we did and our puck management was fantastic to see and something they can all learn for the games in the coming weeks."
*NIHL1 Raiders Ellie Wakeling has been named in the GB women's team, alongside former teammates Ella Howard and Abbie Sylvester, for the World Championship Division 1B campaign in Korea in April.
And Romford youngster Brynley Capps is in the GB U16 boys' team, with former player Harry Vant, for their upcoming campaign.
