Tips for tonight’s Romford greyhounds

Like the camera, the clock never lies. And LETHAL FREDS, the fastest of Monday’s heat winners, can time the start to perfection to win the Coral On TV Standard Trophy at Romford tonight.

Seamus Cahill’s star went under the magical 24 seconds barrier in the heats and surely needs only to break level with his runners to utilise a devastating burst of pace to the bend.

Westmead Guru looks the chief danger. He is being touted as a Derby dog potentially, is a big brute of a greyhound size-wise and will try and muscle his way to the front off the second. But really 400m is on the sharp side for him. But watch him over further elsewhere.

Kick off with DIRECTORS WIT (7.30pm) in the sprint. He’s been doing some nice trial work recently and may always be bustling up local Bantiss Dermot.

BLUE MAX (8.48pm) remains a talented youngster who went through the grades well and wasn’t disgraced in a recent Coral On TV event. His draw in the red box sways it his way. He can use it to keep his rivals always at bay.

TOEMS CHAMP (9.04pm) continues to have some great battles with Little Spark, and can confirm his recent edge over him in the hurdles race. Little Spark, in two, has an early-paced obstacle inside in the shape of Glenard Bay.

BROOKLYN BANDIT (10.24pm), a star sprinter, is interesting upped in trip and gets the vote over Strawpedo Joe in their 400m clash.

There is no guarantee the dog will stay the one-lap. His half-lap form is top class and no question he has the early pace, but two bends to four is a big ask. Just see how tough it’s been for the likes of those speedsters Rotar Wing and Jimmy Lollie when up in trip.

However, Brooklyn Bandit has shaped as perhaps strong enough to handle it.

Ex-Sheffield dog Farley Totti is interesting in the ‘lucky last’ at 10.40pm. Some of his open-race form is top-drawer and 575m should be ideal. But the Champagne Club’s BUBBLY VERDASCO can race here clear. But save with Totti for the forecast (reversed, in case!).
