More than 100 pupils designed bookmarks for a competition for World Book Day.
The pupils at Broadford Primary School personalised their bookmarks and submitted them to school librarian Roseanne Sparks blog site.
She said she was overwhelmed by their interest, “I was delighted with the high volume of entries, and with so many fantastic designs to choose from, selecting winners was a challenge in itself!”
Headteacher Malcolm Drakes said: “Miss Sparkes has worked incredibly hard to promote reading in a variety of ways this year. In her role as librarian she has introduced books on the iPad, launched a Big Read challenge and organised weekly quizzes through her library blog.
“This competition really caught the children’s imagination and have them the opportunity to lose themselves in a bookstore for an afternoon. They have come back inspired to read their new books and share the stories with their classmates!”
The winning entries included images of a volcano erupting with books, a very clever bookworm and a dinosaur created from tissue paper.
