A substance was allegedly sprayed at staff members during a robbery at a Romford jewellers this morning, police have said.
Officers were called just before 8am today (November 29) to reports of the incident in Romford Shopping Hall.
A Met spokesperson said: "A male is reported to have entered and smashed a glass cabinet before fleeing.

"A substance is reported to have been sprayed at two members of staff. They are not believed to have suffered any serious injuries."
The unit where the robbery took place is said to be Ramesses Jewellery, according to a spokesperson for the shopping hall.
They said jewellery was taken but this has not been confirmed by police.
The spokesperson added that the centre has remained open but said the incident was "horrible to happen".
According to police, its enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.
