A man has been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault in Stratford. 

Police were alerted to the incident in Elis Way at 9.10pm on August 19.

A man was found at the scene with "significant" stab wounds to the head, abdomen and back. 

The victim, Tom Savage, has since come forward sharing details of his ordeal.

He described his recovery as "brutal", needing to relearn how to walk again. 

Tom said: "I was aware pretty early that I was in quite a bit of trouble.

“You lose all dignity in hospital when you’re not well. You have no dignity or privacy and it’s a pretty brutal realisation when your brain's working okay."

His injuries have been confirmed as life-changing. 

Jasanth Sivanesa, 21, of Forrester Way, Stratford has since been charged with attempted murder after police made an arrest on November 29. 

The 21-year-old has been remanded into custody and will appear at Stratford Magistrates' Court today (December 2).
