A man's sports car was smashed while he was playing badminton at a gym in Gidea Park.

A BMW i8 had its rear window smashed at the David Lloyd centre between 7.30pm and 7.50pm on Tuesday, November 26 in the basement car park.

An investigation is ongoing, according to the Met Police.

The car's owner believes that this was an attempt to steal from him rather than a random act of spite.

“The weirdest thing was that someone had tried to open my changing room locker," he claimed.

"Someone had tried to put my locker code into the locker next to me, thinking it was mine.

“Because the boot of my car is made of glass, you can see into my boot but because it was raining that day and the glass was foggy, you couldn’t tell that there was nothing of value in there."

"I don't think this is an act of jealousy or spite. I think someone was trying to get to belongings in my car."

He claims that the incident was not captured on David Lloyd's CCTV cameras.

“The car park was very busy, someone will have seen something.

“I have no enemies. I don’t know who could have done this. I am a very jolly and normal guy. I have no idea what has happened here.”

A Met Police spokesperson said: "A police report has been made about a vehicle parked on Squirrels Heath Lane where a rear window was smashed.
