A large cannabis factory with around £1million of plants has been found at Romford Market Place.
Police carried out a warrant at Market Place on Tuesday (November 26) at 7.44am, which led to the discovery of the factory in the town centre.
According to police, the plants at the site were worth around £1million, and the discovery was considered as a risk to the public.
Two men were arrested during the warrant and were charged with cultivation of cannabis.
They appeared in court on the same day.
Inspector Matt Willson for Romford Town Centre said: “This was a substantial seizure of cannabis plants worth approximately £1million.
“Criminality in this scale puts the public at risk and was potentially dangerous to those visiting the town centre or living in close proximity.
“I would like to assure the public that following our warrant, UK Power Networks has made the electrics safe.
“Our priority is to disrupt organised crime groups and prevent drugs being sold in Havering and we are very committed to protecting our communities from the rime and anti-social behaviour that is often linked to drugs supply.”
