Thousands turned out to see Brentwood's Christmas lights turned on at the end of a day of activities.
The town's High Street hosted the event on Saturday, November 23.
Lighting Up Brentwood was organised by business group Brentwood Connected in partnership with Brentwood Council.
The town’s new Christmas lights were switched on by the Mayor of Brentwood and special guests.
The day began with a Santa parade, led by young performers from Razzamataz Theatre School.
There were festive walkabout acts, including The Grinch and stilt walkers.
The road was lined with market stall holders, while some were located indoors at The Baytree Shopping Centre due to the stormy weather.
Live performances were held across multiple stages and a free ice rink were also part of the day's festivities.
A giant Christmas bauble has also returned on the Chapel Ruins, attracting people grabbing photos. The bauble will be in place until the New Year, according to Brentwood Connected.
Its manager Sarah Walmsley said: “With Storm Bert looming, we made every effort to ensure we put on a safe and enjoyable event to support local businesses.
"It was fantastic to see Brentwood High Street buzzing with families enjoying the live entertainment and free activities, and especially good to see so many businesses getting involved to start the festive shopping season."
A collaboration between Brentwood Connected and Brentwood Borough Council has seen the town’s Christmas lighting improved to cover the entire High Street and extending out to Ongar Road and Kings Road up to Brentwood station.
