The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice in London.

Icy patches formed overnight, creating potential hazards on untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths across London until 10am today (November 10).

The Met Office has cautioned that these conditions could lead to injuries from slips and falls.

Chief meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: "With cold Arctic air firmly in place over the UK, continued winter hazards are likely through much of this week, with further updates to warnings likely in the coming days."

A yellow cold weather alert came into effect for London at 10am on Monday (November 18) and will remain active until November 23 at 6pm.

According to the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), the alert is due to the forecasted weather causing impacts on health and social care services.

The Alzheimer's Society has warned that cold weather can be "particularly challenging" for people with dementia.

"Colder temperatures can be difficult for a person with dementia to adjust to, and they may not always be able to communicate that they are cold – or they may not even recognise it themselves," the charity said.

Asthma + Lung UK has also urged those with lung conditions to be "extra careful".
