A waste management company has been charged with corporate manslaughter after a man died at a site in Bow.
On June 13, 2017, Barcoli Indjai died at Bywaters (Leyton) Ltd’s Lea Riverside premises.
The company, of Twelvetrees Crescent, Bow, has now been charged with corporate manslaughter.
The details of the charge allege that the company failed to protect Mr Indjai from an exposed nip point on a moving conveyor belt.
The company is also charged with failing to discharge general health and safety duty, and contravening a health and safety regulation.
John Glover, 78, who was director at Bywaters (Leyton) Ltd, is also charged with failing to discharge general health and safety duty and contravening a health and safety regulation.
Glover and a representative for Bywaters (Leyton) Ltd appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Thursday (November 14).
Glover pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The case was sent to Southwark Crown Court.
