A community centre supporting both the very young and very old needs the public's votes to win a revamp jackpot.
Kentish Town Community Centre, in Busby Place, Kentish Town, has been named as one of 10 finalists in Leyland’s Big Community Makeover London-wide competition.
The good cause with the largest share of public support will win £5,000 worth of decorating and DIY product from any Leyland store, with two runners-up receiving £2,500 of products each.
Prizes include paint from leading brands, tools, timber and plumbing parts.
The vote opened on Monday (November 11) and closes on November 30. People can vote once a day by visiting www.leylandsdm.co.uk/bigcommunitymakeover
The community centre runs projects for the community, including under-fives stay and play, The Kentish Town Arts Club and a food hub.
Winning would fund a makeover of the community facilities for the benefit of all users.
The centre's Alice Morgan said: “We are thrilled to be a Big Community Makeover finalist and we’ll be going all out to win.
“It is difficult to fund improvements to the building so this prize would make a tremendous difference. It would allow us to renovate our tired kitchen.”
Big Community Makeover attracted more than 250 entries, with judges at Leyland whittling it down to a final 10.
Leyland chief executive Martin Hastings said: “We are delighted to launch the next stage of our Big Community Makeover competition, which sees 10 very worthy good causes go head-to-head in a battle for public support.
“All of these groups do amazing work in their local community and have big plans if they are successful in securing one our top prizes. I can’t wait to see who comes out on top.
“Big Community Makeover is a way for us to shine a light on some of the fantastic work that is happening in the capital – and to make a tangible difference to the facilities of three winners.”
The winning groups will be able to select any products from Leyland’s extensive range, including paint from leading brands, tools, timber and plumbing parts.
