An inquest will be held after a young woman was found dead in her home in Dagenham.
Forensic pathologists, unable to identify any cause of death, ruled Yara Da Cruz had died from sudden adult death syndrome (SADS).
The condition, also known as sudden arrhythmic death syndrome, refers to a sudden and unexplained cardiac arrest, where the heart stops pumping.
Miss Da Cruz, 30, was found dead at her home in Porters Avenue, between Valence Park and Parsloes Park, on February 30.
An inquest into her death was opened at East London Coroner’s Court, Walthamstow, on Friday, November 8.
“Emergency services were called to the address as friends of Miss Da Cruz had been concerned about the welfare of Miss Da Cruz,” said senior coroner Graeme Irvine.
“Miss Da Cruz was found deceased in bed.”
She was identified at the scene by family, the court heard.
Mr Irvine ordered a post-mortem examination, which included toxicology and histology tests.
But he said: “The combined efforts of the pathology team could not identify a clear mechanism of death.
“I will open an inquest. It seems to me that we do not have a clear understanding as to the cause of death.”
