Police investigating a triple stabbing in Dagenham believe those involved are 'known to each other'.

Officers were called to First Avenue at approximately 5.35pm last night (October 25) with reports of three patients injured.

At the scene emergency responders discovered a woman in her 30s, a boy believed to be two-years-old, and a girl they believe to be eight, suffering from stab wounds.

They were taken to a major trauma centre as a priority where they remain.

Det Supt Lewis Basford said: “This is a truly shocking attack and I want to thank local residents for their assistance and patience while we deal with this incident.

“At this early stage, we believe those involved were known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

“A crime scene will remain in place for some time while our officers carry out vital work and you will see an increased policing presence in the area over the coming days.
