HORNCHURCH will look to build on their dramatic draw at Salisbury City when they host Bath in a crunch clash this weekend.

Scott Kashket’s equaliser six minutes into stoppage time saw the Urchins pick up a point at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium last time out.

But skipper Ryan Scott is now turning his attentions towards Saturday’s meeting with Bath City.

“This weekend is really important as we are finally back at home,” said Scott.

“It’s a new group in reality and it feels like it’s really coming together.

“With a few players back available I’m hoping we can use last week’s grit and determination to put together a positive performance and try and climb the table again.

“It is still so tight a few consecutive wins will probably put you up near the play offs.”

Saturday’s draw means Hornchurch sit 18th in the National League South standings, one point and one below this weekend’s opponents.

But Scott is certain the Urchins will be heading into the game on a real high.

“It was a great point for the team to build on,” said the defender.

“An injury inside five minutes, going a goal down and then our stand in keeper getting injured with no replacement after 20 minutes it would have been easy to throw the towel in and feel sorry for ourselves but we dug in.

“On a day that felt like everything was going against us, to fight like we did and to snatch a point in the 96th minute showed great character.”

Salisbury, who are 13th in the table, opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Josh Hedges fired past Hornchurch’s new goalkeeper Harry Seaden from just inside the penalty area.

However, the visitors fought back and equalised five minutes before the break when George Saunders’ free-kick from the left hand side caught out goalkeeper James Hillson and flew into the left hand side of the net.

Hedges soon smashed another effort against the crossbar before the hosts went back in front in the 82nd minute when Craig Fasanmade tapped home the rebound after a save from Seaden.

But Hornchurch refused to be beaten and, six minutes into stoppage time, they drew back level for a second time with Kashket on target.

The substitute, who replaced Bailey Clements four minutes from time, scored with an inswinging cross-shot from the right flank which deceived Hillson and hit the back of the net to ensure the game ended all square.

Urchins are set to visit Boreham Wood on Wednesday.
