Raiders forward Aiden Wilson is relishing a top-of-the-table clash with Leeds Knights in the National League this weekend.

The two sides meet at Romford's Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre on Saturday (5.15pm), with Raiders then set to visit Peterborough Phantoms the following night.

And they go into the weekend in a three-way tie at the top of the standings after beating Sheffield Steeldogs and Berkshire Bees in their most recent outings.

"Romford is a great place to be at the moment, the vibes around the rink are great, everyone is gelling well," said Wilson.

"Hopefully it continues as we look at the coming weekend, against Peterborough and Leeds.

"Obviously it's a top-of-the-table clash against Leeds on Saturday. There's no reason we shouldn't be able to take the points away from that.

"Against Peterborough as well. We've beaten them twice at home so hopefully we can beat them in their barn on Sunday."

Raiders, without player-coach Adam Laishram due to a concussion suffered at Hull, took the lead inside two minutes at Sheffield last Saturday, as Jacob Ranson netted from Wilson's pass.

Brandon Ayliffe doubled the advantage midway through the first period, with defenceman Tyler Nixon claiming his first goal for the club to make it 3-0 at the break.

The hosts hit back just before the halfway stage, then cut the gap to one with a powerplay goal in the 48th minute.

But Wilson made it 4-2 soon after and a late powerplay goal was not enough for Sheffield, as Raiders goalie Ethan James made 53 saves on the night.

Raiders started fast against Bees back on home ice the following night, with Sean Barry netting after 73 seconds.

Ayliffe added a second - and climbed above Ben Pitchley and Andy Heinze in the club's all-time scoring list at the weekend - in the 11th minute and Raiders led 4-0 early in the middle session after Andrew Shewfelt netted a shorthanded effort and Tjay Anderson also struck.

Bees replied, but Jake Sylvester made it 5-1 and Shewfelt added further markers to complete his hat-trick, before the visitors grabbed a consolation.

And Wilson hailed a fine weekend's work, adding: "The two wins at the weekend were great as they were cup games as well as league games.

"To get four points in the cup to take us up to, I think, second and the four points in the league takes us to tied first.

"That's really good. We're way ahead of where people expected us at the start of the season.

"It was great to get the game-winning goal against Sheffield on Saturday.

"Our team performances were really good at the start of the season, we took a little bit of a dip but we're still getting results so we can't complain.

"Hopefully we can get the performances back up. As a new signing, so far this season, I love it. I can't complain."
