A man has been charged with murder after a 50-year-old man was stabbed in Ilford.

Billy Keegan was found injured in the corridor of a block of flats in Chapel Road at around 1.05am on October 4.

Police and London Ambulance Service attended, however, Billy was pronounced dead at 1.30am.

Muhamed Nur Osman, 30, of Knight Close, Dagenham was arrested on suspicion of murder on October 5.

He is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court today (October 7) charged with murder and actual bodily harm.

Three men were previously arrested on suspicion of murder however they were later released with no further action to be taken.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “A man will appear in court this morning charged with the murder of Billy Keegan in Ilford.

“Muhamed Nur Osman, 30 (22.10.93), of Knight Close, Dagenham is due to appear on Monday, 7 October at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court charged with murder and ABH.

“Police were called around 01.05hrs on Friday, 4 October to reports of a stabbing in Chapel Road, Ilford.

“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found 50-year-old Billy Keegan suffering from a stab injury in the corridor of a block of flats.

“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Billy was pronounced dead at 01:30hrs.

“The investigation is being led by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command.

“Three men were arrested shortly after on suspicion of murder. They were later released no further action.

“Osman was arrested on Saturday, 5 October on suspicion of murder. He was later charged as above.
