A new family-run cafe has opened in Romford, with firefighters invited to help cut the ribbon.

Sabsdeli launched in Rise Park Parade, Romford, on Sunday (September 29), with a grand opening attended by London Fire Brigade crews from the nearby Romford Fire Station.

Run by small business owner John Metin and his family, the deli also gave customers the first taste of its menu at the opening, such as the loaded beef brisket jackets - which were reportedly a "real hit".

Other items on the Sabsdeli menu include sourdough sandwiches, speciality coffee and beef brisket brioche buns.

Owner John said it was "so lovely" to see the support from the community during the launch, and that he is "looking forward to getting to know everyone".

He has been in the cafe business for more than two decades, opening four other cafes before Sabsdeli, with the most recent being in Lakeside Shopping Centre.

The independent cafe aims to bring "quality food and coffee" to Rise Park - but also hopes to do "something different" with their menu.

A member of the family running Sabsdeli said: "John's been in the cafe business for 21 years now, where he has been running normal British cafes.

"But now we are trying something different with a twist.

"We want to specialise in a few things rather than having a big menu."
