A consultation on a masterplan that could transform Romford's town centre has been opened to the public.

Residents can now make their thoughts on the Romford Masterplan known from today (September 30).

It comes after the draft of the redevelopment plan was approved on September 18 by Havering Council's cabinet.

The plan itself has been seven years in the making, after it was first commissioned under the Conservative administration in 2017.

Features of the plan includes improvements to public spaces (in particular the marketplace), re-naturalising the River Rom, and new housing.

Cllr Graham Williamson, cabinet lead for Regeneration and Development, said: “This is a pivotal moment for Romford.

“We are committed to creating a masterplan that reflects the aspirations and needs of our community and I urge everyone to take part and help shape the future of our town.”

Feedback generated from the consultation period will be used to refine the drafted masterplan before it is finalised and submitted for adoption in 2025, the council added.
