Homeowners in Rainham have been warned to keep their windows and doors closed after another fire broke out at a former landfill site.

Firefighters from the London Fire Brigade were called to Launders Lane at 7.30pm on September 20.

Around 25 firefighters in four fire engines from across Wennington, Dagenham, Hornchurch, Barking, and Greenwich stations were dispatched to the scene.

It is the second time this week that the brigade has been called to a fire at the landfill site, after a fire broke out on the land on September 19

Last night's fire encompassed just under five acres of wasteland, taking more than two hours to extinguish from multiple hotspots.

A 32-metre turntable ladder was used as a water tower to tackle the blaze from above.

The brigade has warned local residents to keep their windows and doors closed due to the smoke in the area.
