Muggers left a man with a potential fractured eye socket after stealing a Rolex watch.
The victim was walking down London Road, in Brentwood, at around 2.30am on September 8 when two males approached him, Essex Police say.
They assaulted the man and stole a Rolex watch, which is described as having a green face, before fleeing the scene in a silver Vauxhall Astra.
The victim was left with bruising and a "potential fractured eye socket", according to the force.
Police say they are "pursuing a number of lines of enquiry".
They believe there may have been members of the public or passing vehicles in the area at the time of the robbery and are urging witnesses to come forward.
