A man has been arrested after an alleged assault in Romford town centre at the weekend.

Police were called to Regarth Avenue on Saturday (September 14) at around 9pm after reports that a man had been assaulted.

He was treated at the scene by the London Ambulance Service, however his injuries were deemed as "not life changing".

A 44-year-old man was arrested and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Police responded to a call to Regarth Avenue, Romford on Saturday, September 14 at 9.08pm to a man assaulted. 

"He was treated by London Ambulance Service for injuries assessed as not life changing.

"A 44-year-old man was arrested nearby and has been bailed to a date later this year.

"If you have any information about this incident which may assist our investigation, you can call 101 reference 6844/14Sept."

In a separate incident, four men were arrested in the early hours of the following morning (September 15) after reports of a fight in South Street.

The Met Police has not yet confirmed whether these two incidents are linked.
