A training course on magnetic resonance equipment to record brain activity of patients at King George Hospital has won national recognition.

The MRI basic course by the North East London Imaging Academy, based at the hospital, has been accredited by the Society and College of Radiographers professional body.

It recognises a high standard of training for staff in hospitals all over east London, with the first student radiographers graduating last September with the latest advances in medical imaging technology.

“This helps what we offer radiographers,” the academy’s project manager Amit Marks said. “We are refining training and looking at developing the academy in the future.”

Now the NHS hospital trust for Barking, Havering and Redbridge is working to get further accreditation for a more advanced imaging course.
