A care home in Gidea Park has been forced to look for other ways to get residents to medical appointments after its minibus was stolen. 

The Metropolitan Police were called to reports of a stolen vehicle at Parkside Residential Home in Main Road at 9.23pm on Tuesday (September 3). 

The home's operations manager Steve Street told The Recorder it was the first time anything like this had happened at the home. 

 

He said: "We use the minibus for providing transport for our residents at the home to medical appointments and also visits and activities outside of the home. 

"At this moment in time, we will have to look at other means to be able to provide those activities still and to be able to provide transport to medical appointments for them."

Steve explained that the minibus is "very vital" to their residents.

A spokesperson for the Met has confirmed there were no injuries. Police enquiries are ongoing into the theft.
