A family-owned business in Collier Row is celebrating 40 years of serving the community.
Greenhouse Water Gardens, owned by husband and wife Thomas and Hazel Sands, opened in 1984 and is now marking four decades on the high street.
The pond supply shop in Chase Cross Road has seen "so many changes across the years" both within their shop and within their own family - the founding duo are now great-grandparents.
Co-founder Thomas Sands said serving families in Collier Row for three generations has been an "absolute pleasure".
The 84-year-old said: "40 years is almost unbelievable, and for a local independent business, sadly, it’s almost unheard of nowadays.
"We’ve seen so many changes across the years, how the high street has changed, changed again and changed even more. How my family has grown from five young children, to 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren!
Thomas added: "I’m probably most moved by the loyalty our customers continue to show us.
"We’ve been serving families for three generations, and it’s been our absolute pleasure."
Greenhouse Water Gardens is now managed day-to-day by son Matt Sands, who aims to keep his parents' "legacy" going.
The independent store has a regular free raffle and monthly discounts to "give back" to their customers.
Co-founder Hazel Sands, 81, said: "We’re doing what we can in our small way to give back, to thank our shoppers and to thank everybody for shopping local, popping in to see our experienced team, and coming back year on year.
"Each month we have a new deal, new discount, free raffles and new offers.
"I won’t be here for the next 40 years, but who knows, my son Matt who is doing much of the day-to-day running might be!"
Shop manager Matt Sands added that it has been a "real honour" to be a "firm fixture" in the Collier Row community for so long.
The 51-year-old said: "It’s a real honour to continue my mum and dad’s legacy and to be a firm fixture in Collier Row’s high-street for so long, fingers crossed we can keep it going for another 40 years."
Greenhouse Water Gardens is located at 87 Chase Cross Road, and opens from Monday to Sunday, between 9am and 6pm.
