East London commuters are set to have their journeys disrupted by diversions this week as planned engineering work is to take place. 

Diversions will take place on the c2c network, connecting London to Essex, for just one day this week on September 8 (Sunday). 

The planned engineering work behind the diversions has been scheduled between Liverpool Street and Barking, and between Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness according to the c2c website.

Commuters wishing to travel via any of the c2c's lines are warned of disruptions to their travel that will take place on the weekend. 

Services will be unable to call at Liverpool Street, Barking, or Stratford stations due to line closures in place on September 8. 

These services will be diverted via Fenchurch Street, making an additional stop at West Ham in place of Stratford.

Commuters affected by the amended services will have their tickets accepted on the Jubilee line between West Ham and Stratford.

Line closures will also be in place on Sunday between Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness on the Basildon line, and between Leigh-on-Sea and Southend Central on the Ockendon line. 

As a result, stations including Leigh-on-Sea, Chalkwell, Westcliff, Southend Central, Southend East, Thorpe Bay and Shoeburyness will not be served. 

Instead, a rail replacement bus service has been scheduled for stops between Leigh-on-Sea and Shoeburyness.
