Police chased a motorbike through Hornchurch after it was found to have been stolen.

Officers pursued a motorcycle carrying both a rider and a passenger through the town just after 9.45pm on August 7 after it failed to stop.

The bike had been stolen a few days earlier on Monday (August 5), the Metropolitan Police said.

The driver and the passenger were last seen on the motorcycle in Maylands Avenue - but the vehicle was later recovered.

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: "At 21:47hrs on Wednesday, 7 August, officers engaged in a tactical pursuit of a motorcycle failing to stop in the Hornchurch area. 

"The motorcycle carrying both a rider and pillion passenger was last seen on Maylands Avenue, Hornchurch. 

"The motorcycle, which had been stolen on Monday, 5 August, was recovered a short time later."

No arrests have been made at this time and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
