A man's death at a Rainham business park has sparked a joint investigation by police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Police were called at 1.41pm yesterday (August 5) to Suttons Business Park, New Road, Rainham, after reports of two people injured.

A man in his 40s was pronounced dead and police believe he was struck by a crate or pallet.

The HSE today (August 6) confirmed it was investigating with the force.

“We are aware of this incident and a joint investigation has been launched alongside the Metropolitan Police," a HSE spokesperson said.

Mr Noon said he also saw emergency services rushing to the scene.

The LAS, assisting police colleagues, confirmed it had treated two people at the scene, but that a man died before they could take him to hospital.

"We took one patient to hospital but sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, the other patient was pronounced dead at the scene," an LAS spokesperson said.

The incident prompted the LAS to send its hazardous area response team and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to dispatch multiple units.

A LFB spokesperson said: "Firefighters were mobilised to assist emergency service colleagues at an incident on New Road in Rainham.

"Two fire engines, one fire rescue unit and around 15 firefighters from Wennington, Dagenham and East Ham fire stations attended the scene."

The incident was over for the LFB by 2.26pm after it was called at 1.43pm.
