A crime scene erected in Rush Green is linked to a fatal fire in Dagenham that killed a pensioner. 

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police has confirmed that a crime scene in The Chase is part of an ongoing investigation into the death of Robert Price

It comes as forensics vehicles were spotted there today (August 2).

They said: "A crime scene in The Chase is linked to the recent fatal fire in Oval Road (North)."

A 17-year-old boy was due to appear at the Old Bailey today (August 2) in connection with the 76-year-old's death

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, was charged on July 30 with murder and arson with intent to endanger life after Robert was found dead in his home in Oval Road North on July 27.

Emergency services were called to the road with reports of a fire at 5.40pm  and they had to force entry to the residential address. 

Robert was pronounced dead at the scene with a post-mortem examination on July 29 revealing his cause of death as burns and smoke inhalation.

The Met is continuing its appeal for witnesses and information in relation to the fatal fire. 

Anyone in the area of Oval Road North between 5pm and 6pm on July 27 who saw the incident is asked to contact police.
