Frederick Road, Rainham field fire causes damage to land

Crews from the London Fire Brigade were called to Frederick Road at 4pm on July 31 after receiving reports of a fire. 

The fire broke out in the fields to the back of Frederick Road (Image: Angie Murray (FB)) Around 15 firefighters were dispatched to the scene in three fire engines from crews across Wennington, Stoke Newington, and Barking stations. 

Two acres of field were partially damaged by the fire, which took firefighters just less than an hour to get under control. 

Rainham has been plagued by grass fires in recent years, with Launders Lane particularly affected.

Pictures and footage from the scene of the fire show clouds of smoke rising from what appears to be dry grass, with additional images showing an area of the damaged land.

No injuries were reported.
