The Metropolitan Police has issued an update after the death of a man inside a  Romford shopping centre. 

The man was pronounced dead inside the Mercury Mall yesterday (July 29). 

A spokesperson for the Met has today (July 30) confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. 

They said: "I can confirm that the death has been investigated and is being treated as unexpected and non-suspicious."

At least four ambulance vehicles and two police cars were at the scene. 

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.15pm today (29 July) to reports of an incident on Mercury Gardens, Romford.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car and an incident response officer.

“Very sadly, despite our best efforts, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The Met have confirmed that the place of death inside the mall was an area that was not open to the public. 

Mercury Mall management have declined to comment.
