Six of London’s newest and up and coming London restaurants are up to win a national award celebrating British restaurants.

This year marks the sixth year of the annual British Restaurant Awards (BRA) celebrating the best of British restaurants, with 29 award categories ranging from Best Chef to Best Luxury Restaurant.

This year six of London’s newest restaurants were nominated for a chance to win in the category of Best New Restaurant, with the awards set to take place in London on August 28.

Akira Back, Mandarin Oriental, Mayfair

This all-day restaurant serving a fusion of Japanese and Korean cuisine is the creation of Chef Akira Back’s Korean heritage.

The menu features popular Japanese dishes like Bento Boxes and sharing platters made using seasonal produce, along with more contemporary dishes like tuna pizza and beef tacos.

Arlington, St James's

First opening in March this year, this contemporary dining spot serves up European inspired dishes from fish and chips and shepherds pie to lobster thermidor soufflé and rabbit ragu.

Josephine Bouchon, Chelsea

This neighbourhood French bistro serves a “simple menu” with French classics inspired by owner Claude’s home-town of Lyon, with dishes like cod with shallot butter and pink praline tart.

Kioku by Endo at the OWO, Whitehall

Part of the newly opened hotel in the former Old War Offices (OWO) once frequented by MI5, Kioku is one of the newest restaurants to open in this grand and elaborate space.

The restaurant offers full views of the London skyline along with a Japanese menu created by Michelin-starred chef Endo Kazutoshi.

Koyn Thai, Mayfair

This underground restaurant in the heart of Mayfair is the creation of Bangkok-born chef Rose Chalalai Singh, with a menu showcasing the different cuisines and flavours of northern, southern and central Thailand.

The restaurant offers late night dining along with a tasting menu with eight dishes for £55.

Ladurée, Covent Garden

If pastel-coloured macarons, dainty cakes and regency-looking aesthetics is your thing, Ladurée in Covent Garden is one of London’s brand new afternoon tea spots, created by a company that’s been around since the 1860s.

You can order everything from afternoon tea with cakes and sandwiches for £39.95 to macarons and decadent hot chocolates.
