A man has been arrested on suspicion of a murder after a woman was stabbed to death in Walthamstow.
Police were called to Lynmouth Road at around 3am this morning (July 22) to reports that a woman had been found injured.
A 32-year-old woman was discovered suffering from stab wounds. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers are still in the process of informing her next of kin.
A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody. It is believed he was known to the victim.
Chief Superintendent Rhona Hunt, responsible for policing in Walthamstow, said: “Our thoughts are with this young woman’s family following their devastating loss.
“Urgent enquiries by officers led to the swift arrest of a suspect who is now in custody.
"We will now work to establish the circumstances that led to this terrible tragedy. Officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance. Please speak to them if you any concerns.”
