An autism hub in a major Romford shopping centre has closed its doors.

The Havering Autism Hub in The Liberty on Western Road shut yesterday (July 19) at 4pm after a period of uncertainty regarding its future.

Autistic people in Havering who have been using the hub have been reassured by the Sycamore Trust of other options.

The trust also announced it has submitted a bid to Havering Council to run a new "Havering all-age autism service".

"[We] do not expect a decision on that service until the autumn," the trust added.

If granted, the service is expected to start on November 1, the trust said, but in the meantime people can use an interim venue in central Romford.

This will run on Fridays between August 2 and October 25 this year.

It will be by appointment only so if you would like to attend a support group or book, get in touch with familyservices@sycamoretrust.org.uk or call 0208 517 9317.
