A man was found dead outside a theatre in Hornchurch.
Police were called to North Street near to Queen's Theatre by the London Ambulance Service at 4.57am this morning (July 16).
A man in his 50s was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene, Scotland Yard said.
His next of kin have been informed.
A Met spokesperson said: "At this stage the death is being treated as unexpected."
Witnesses had heard police driving to the theatre in Billet Lane in the early hours of the morning.
Police tape can be seen outside the theatre this morning in photos shared with the Recorder.
Enquiries are ongoing in the circumstances of his death.
