A man has been charged with committing a rape in a Romford park.
On Thursday (July 11) at about 6pm a report of a rape was made and a crime scene subsequently put in place at Raphael Park.
Romario Banya, 21, of no fixed address, has now been charged with rape, assault causing actual bodily harm and non-fatal strangulation.
Banya is due to appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates' Court today (July 15).
"We understand that the local community has been feeling shocked," police said.

The victim continues to be supported by specially trained officers.
Police said this was an isolated incident, but urged anyone who has been affected to speak with officers.
