A callous predator stopped a woman from leaving her own home for a week, where he punched and raped her.

Sam Price, of Central Park Avenue in Dagenham, has been jailed over the attacks, which took place last summer in Romford.

On July 16, the 25-year-old met a woman and exchanged details with her.

Police said that within a matter of days, Prince’s abuse began, as he raped the woman in her own home.

He also punched her repeatedly, bit her and threatened her over the course of the next week, and stopped her from leaving her home.

After seven days, Price left the home and the victim managed to call her friend, who notified police.

Officers quickly went to the home, and collected CCTV evidence, as well as witness and victim statements.

Within days of the report, Price was arrested at a home in Central Park Avenue.

The 25-year-old was found guilty of rape and one count of assault after a trail at Snaresbrook Crown Court that ended in April.

He had previously pleaded guilty to another count of assault.

Price was jailed for ten-and-a-half years at the same court last Friday (July 5), as well as receiving a lifetime restraining order and being added to the sex offenders register.

Detective Constable Jess Stephens, who led the investigation, said: “This is a good result not only because we can bring this case to a close but also I hope it encourages more women to step forward and report these crimes.

“Tackling violence against women and girls is a priority and we are using all of the tactics at our disposal to target predatory men like Price who pose the greatest risk.”

PC Ugne Draz, the victim's sexual offences liaison officer added that the victim had shown "amazing courage" throughout the police investigation.
