A family-owned café in Romford claims to be the best of British with its quirky Royal-themed menu.
Tea Pot Café in Romford Shopping Hall has spoken to The Recorder about its quirky menu, with dishes named after members of the Royal Family.
The business was opened in 1953 by Walter (Wally) Mole, a former Japanese prisoner of war, and has remained in the family for 71 years.
Billy Hughes, Tea Pot Café's cook, said the menu change introducing the Royal theme was made eight years ago.
He said: “We’re a traditional cafe, very proud to be British – the best of British so we thought that nothing is better than that than the Royal Family so we used them as inspiration behind our menu.

"Originally, we (had) five set breakfasts. Then we added more, and the Royals – sort of poached eggs, avocado, smoked salmon, Eggs Benedict, Eggs Royale.
"The speciality breakfasts, they are our Royals."
The quirky feature is said to bring the business a lot of attention from those who visit it, and they have no plans to change the menu any time soon.
Billy said: “We get a lot of photographs being taken actually.

"We’ve got a few Union Jacks dotted about, so we pretty much promote the best of British, definitely.
"We are very much a community café with many regulars that we consider more like friends than customers."
The menu includes options like the King Charles which consists of an omelette, chips, and salad, and the Kate consisting of poached eggs on an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce and ham.
However, it is the Queen Liz that Billy said is most popular with customers, the eggs Royale.
