Two men face modern slavery charges after a police probe into the supply of class A drugs.
Essex Police said that three men were charged after the discovery of an alleged drugs line being run out of London into Essex.
Their investigation also focused on the welfare of a number of children who were allegedly being exploited.
Two arrests were made in London in the early hours of May 28. Those charged are as follows:
- Fhazio Mulindwa, 33, of Brooks Road, Plaistow, charged with four counts of human trafficking – arranging or facilitating the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs
- Bamba Njie, 23, of Rayne Court, South Woodford, was charged with two counts of human trafficking – arranging or facilitating the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
A 19-year-old man from Loughton was charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
All three men appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on May 29.
No pleas were entered and each of the men are now due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on June 26.
