A driver who ran out of fuel on the A127 left his vehicle unattended for more than 30 minutes whilst he walked home to get his bank card.

Marcin Tomasz Staszkiewicz, 46, of Dewsbury Gardens in Harold Hill, was hit with a £500 fine for causing his vehicle to be left in a dangerous position.

Court documents state that on September 25 last year his Land Rover ran out of fuel on the A127 in Romford.

He left the vehicle unattended in lane two of the 50mph dual carriageway for more than half an hour whilst he walked home to get his bank card, court documents states.

“He knew he was going to run out of fuel and drove it until the fuel ran out,” court documents state.

Staszkiewicz was convicted under the single justice procedure at Bromley Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday (May 29).

He was fined £500, told to pay a £200 victim surcharge and costs of £110.

He was also given three points on his licence.
