National Trust has submitted an application to be able to offer more plays and live music in Havering.

Rainham Hall is a Grade II listed Georgian house, owned by the National Trust, in The Broadway, Rainham.

The conservation charity has applied for a premises licence to be able to provide occasional entertainment.

These include performances of plays, live music, and film screenings in The Hayloft, and playing recorded music in the Stables café where they hope to sell alcohol during usual opening hours.

Built in 1729 for Captain John Harle, the house was transferred to the National Trust in 1949.

It was let to a succession of private tenants, and remained closed to the public until late 2015.

Tickets to visit the house can be booked in advance but there are walk up slots available on the day.

The Community Garden is free to enter and does not require booking.
