Six dogs were killed in a blaze that damaged part of a flat in Harold Hill.

Around 25 firefighters in four fire engines were dispatched to the scene in Trowbridge Road after the London Fire Brigade received reports of a fire in a four-storey flat block on Wednesday (May 29).

Crews from Harold Hill, Romford, Hornchurch, and Dagenham fire stations tackled the blaze from 7.50pm until 9.08pm. 

A video posted to social media appeared to capture flames engulfing a window of a flat.

The incident caused damage to the majority of the second and third floor of a five-bed maisonette, as well as half of a connecting stairway. 

The fire killed six dogs that were in the property and left another three in need of veterinary care. 

No-one else was injured in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
