A police cordon is in place at the scene where a woman was mauled to death by her two XL bully dogs in Hornchurch.
Pictures from Cornwall Close this morning (May 21) show police and forensics in attendance.
A blue tent has been erected outside one of the homes in the road as officers follow up yesterday's incident.
Armed police had attended the road due to "the threat posed" just after 1.10pm yesterday, after police were called to the cul-de-sac.
Officers had received reports of a woman being attacked by a dog. On arrival, they seized two dogs.
A Met Police spokesperson said: "These were registered XL bully dogs and prior to officers’ arrival had been contained inside a room in the house.
"They did not leave the house at any time during the incident."
The woman, who police said was in her 50s, was treated at the scene but died.
She was the owner of the dogs, the spokesperson said, and her family are being supported by officers.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.09pm on May 20 to reports of an incident in Cornwall Close, RM11.
“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and London’s air ambulance.
“We treated a person but sadly, despite our efforts, they were pronounced dead at the scene.”
