The second round of public consultation for a major development in Harold Hill has opened today (April 15).

The Chippenham Road project is the second phase in the regeneration masterplan of Harold Hill town centre and will offer 138 new 'affordable' homes.

A spokesperson for Wates, that is at the helm of the development with Havering Council, said the new neighbourhood will be divided across four apartment complexes and the homes will be in a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom properties.

These would be built in Chippenham Road and Kings Lynn Drive, next to Farnham and Hilldene Shopping Centre.

Plans include a community garden, casual seating, and play areas and will see the demolition of existing structures like the former Alderman pub in Chippenham Road.

Out of the new homes, the spokesperson said 12 will be specifically designed for wheelchair users and 21 designated for young people who are preparing to move from care into living independently.

The regeneration of Harold Hill town centre is being delivered in three phases. In the first phase, a new family welcome centre and a health centre are being built on the site of the former Abercrombie Hostel. Construction work on this began last summer.

The Chippenham Road scheme is the second phase, with the details of phase three expected in the coming months.

Plans can also be viewed by residents visiting one of the exhibitions organised by Wates and the council this month at Harold Hill Library.

These will take place on April 25 from 3.30pm to 6.45pm and on April 27 from 10.30am to 2pm.

"This second round of consultation presents another valuable opportunity for the community to actively participate in the development process, ensuring that the final outcome truly reflects the needs and aspirations of the people of Harold Hill."
