Nestled in the heart of Westminster, Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences offers more than just a hotel stay.
My recent experience at this opulent establishment, which combined an Indian full-body massage followed by dinner at the stunning Chinese restaurant, House of Ming, was a fantastic experience from start to finish.
Taj 51’s interior and exterior is breathtakingly stunning – it’s like walking onto a glamourous movie set, and is enriched in history, as the site dates back to Tudor England.
I was greeted at the front entrance of the hotel by the concierge, who kindly directed me to what-would-be my most relaxing space of 2024 -the J Wellness Circle spa.
Whilst walking to the spa, I passed many customers who were enjoying a drink whilst listening to the talented pianist, and soon headed through the well-lit garden, which had a beautiful water fountain placed in the middle, and fenced by fairy lights, seating areas, and flowers.
J Wellness Circle, the first in Europe, is an exclusive space that aims to heal the mind, body, and spirit through an exhilarating spa experience.
Upon entering the spa, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquillity, and I spent my time relaxing and letting go of my troubles in the steam room and sauna.
The Indian full-body massage, a signature treatment at the spa, was a truly rejuvenating experience and I’m still dreaming about it now.
My masseuse for the experience, Dipa, expertly kneaded away tension and stress, using traditional techniques and essential oils which guided me into a state of pure bliss.
J Wellness Circle offers a whole range of treatments, from signature therapies like footbaths and facials to holistic healing treatments like Svastha – a two-hour pain relief experience that uses techniques of cupping and fomentation.
As the gentle pressure melted away knots, I felt myself drifting into a state of blissful relaxation, and soon enough fell into a deep sleep which lasted for almost one hour.
Emerging from the spa feeling refreshed and revitalized, I ended my experience by taking in the gorgeous interior and enjoyed an authentic hot Indian tea, which tasted like a warm summers’ day, enriched in honey and fruity tones.
I left the J Wellness Circle spa just after 7pm and headed right next door the stunning Chinese restaurant within Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites, House of Ming, along with my colleague, Immy.
House of Ming draws inspiration from ancient Chinese kitchens, offering people the chance to savour delightful Chinese cuisine amidst stunning surroundings.
Crafted by acclaimed designers Atelier Wren, the interior seamlessly blends Chinese aesthetics with bespoke furniture and antique brass accents, creating a soft atmosphere for guests to enjoy.
The menu offered an exquisite selection of traditional Chinese dishes, expertly crafted using the finest ingredients, and we were fortunate enough to try a whole range of dishes.
From the vegetarian spring rolls to Immy’s black cod, each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavour and artfully presented.
One standout dish was the crispy shredded duck, expertly carved tableside and served with pancakes, hoisin sauce, and crisp cucumber.
The succulent meat melted in my mouth, while the crispy skin offered the perfect contrast of textures.
On the side, we enjoyed crispy spinach, edamame brown rice, Chinese greens, and some pan-fried noodles – all dishes were equally stunning and paired perfectly with our main courses.
Accompanied by a fragrant lychee martini, it was a truly unforgettable dining experience, and we even saved room for dessert.
From the indulgent Indian full-body massage to the exquisite dining experience, it was a luxurious retreat that left me feeling pampered, rejuvenated, and utterly enchanted.
And if that’s not enough reason as to why you should visit Taj 51’s Suites and Residences, the premises also offers another delectable restaurant, Th@51.
This glass dining room is situated in the heart of the hotel, and offers a creative spin on global cuisine, with food choices like garlic prawns, chicken biriyani, and paneer wellington.
Despite being home to some of the most gorgeous hotel rooms in London, Taj 51 has so much more to offer – whether you’re popping in for a quick drink, or staying for a long weekend, there’s something for everyone.
