The owner of a new butcher shop has said he opened up to serve the community.
Butchers of Elm Park, in St Nicholas Avenue, opened its doors on March 9 offering meat, poultry, fruits, vegetables, and bread among other things.
Hasan Korkurt, the owner of the family business, told the Recorder that he decided to launch the shop as there weren’t any butchers nearby and people had to travel to buy fresh meat.
Having lived in the area for more than one-and-a-half years, he said he runs another off-licence store and bought a new shop unit to turn it into a butchers to help serve the community.

Coming from an advertising background, Hasan added he had been an entrepreneur on and off and always loved running his own venture.
He said: “We are willing to be in the area for the next 15 to 20 years. We are just trying to do our best for the area."
Hasan said they sell everything fresh - whether it is meat, or fruit and veg - and welcomed people to the store saying “We are now here!”
